The UAE climate is one of the most challenging environments for fragrance. Here’s how to wear perfume the right way

The combination of extreme heat, humidity, and air conditioning creates a unique environment that behaves completely differently from the temperate climates most perfumes are designed for. The good news? With the right techniques, you can make your fragrance last significantly longer — without reapplying every two hours.

1. Moisturise Before You Apply

Fragrance clings to hydrated skin far better than dry skin. Dry skin essentially absorbs and dissipates the top notes within minutes. Before applying your perfume, apply an unscented moisturiser or body lotion to your pulse points and let it absorb for a minute. This creates a base that holds the fragrance molecules and allows them to develop properly throughout the day.

2. Apply to Pulse Points — Not Your Clothes

Pulse points are areas where blood vessels sit close to the skin surface, generating natural warmth. This warmth continuously activates and projects the fragrance. The key pulse points are the inner wrists, the base of the throat, behind the ears, the inside of the elbows, and behind the knees. Many people spray perfume on their clothes — this is a mistake.
